Memberspot and Rechnungskit: course access right after payment

Q: What happens if the buyer has no Memberspot account yet?

Memberspot creates the account when access is unlocked and sends the invitation email with the link to the course platform itself. If the buyer already has an account, the offer is simply added.

Q: How does this work with subscriptions?

Access starts with the subscription. It stays in place during payment reminders and is only removed when the subscription actually ends: cancellation at the end of the period, withdrawal, or a failed payment after all reminders. If the buyer pays again afterwards, access is restored automatically.

Q: What happens on a refund?

A full refund of a one-time purchase removes access; a partial refund leaves it in place. This applies to every payment provider in your checkout, that is Stripe, Mollie, PayPal and Unzer. If you never want access removed automatically, turn the option off in the integration settings.

Q: Does this also work with orders from Shopify or WooCommerce?

No. The integration is tied to the Rechnungskit checkout: one-time purchases through the payment link and subscriptions from the subscription checkout. Orders from a connected shop do not unlock access.

Q: What happens if unlocking fails?

Every unlock and every removal appears in the log on the integration page. If an action keeps failing, for example after you rotated the key in Memberspot, you get an open task and repeat the action with one click once it is fixed.

Q: Which payment providers can I use with Memberspot, and does this run through the Memberspot API?

All the ones your Rechnungskit checkout connects: Stripe, Mollie, PayPal or Unzer for one-time purchases, and Stripe or Mollie by card or SEPA Direct Debit for subscriptions. Memberspot itself does not process payments. After payment, Rechnungskit calls the Memberspot API and unlocks the offer; the API key from your Memberspot settings is all it takes, no Zapier or Make account needed.

Memberspot is the course platform, and Rechnungskit is the checkout with e-invoicing in front of it. As soon as a buyer has paid, they get access to the matching Memberspot offer, without Zapier and without webhooks of your own. When a subscription ends or a purchase is fully refunded, Rechnungskit takes the access back.

Memberspot manages courses, lessons and members. Payment happens in another system, and whoever paid then has to get into the school: by hand, through Zapier or through a payment connection that knows nothing about German e-invoices. Rechnungskit takes over exactly this part, with an invoice.

Share a payment link or offer a subscription. The buyer pays in the Rechnungskit checkout and receives their e-invoice.

How the Memberspot integration works

Setup takes a few minutes and needs no code:

In Memberspot, create an API key under Settings in the Integrations section.
In Rechnungskit, open Connections → Integrations and paste the key under Memberspot. Rechnungskit checks the connection right away and loads your offers.
Map your products to Memberspot offers. In Memberspot an offer bundles one or more courses, and you keep managing which courses belong to it there.
Share the payment link from the product checkout or offer the course as a subscription through the subscription checkout.

From then on every buyer gets access to the mapped offer after paying. If they are not registered in Memberspot yet, Memberspot creates the account and sends the invitation email itself. At the same time the e-invoice is created as a ZUGFeRD hybrid, archived under GoBD and ready for the DATEV export.

Subscriptions, refunds and payment reminders

With a subscription, access starts when the subscription starts. If a charge fails, access stays in place during the payment reminders, so nobody gets thrown out of a course straight away because their card expired. Access is only removed when the subscription actually ends: cancellation at the end of the period, withdrawal, or a failed payment after all reminders. If the buyer pays again afterwards, Rechnungskit restores access by itself.

A full refund of a one-time purchase removes access, while a partial refund leaves it in place. This applies to every payment provider in your checkout: Stripe, Mollie, PayPal and Unzer. If you never want access removed automatically, turn the option off in the integration settings.

Rechnungskit stores the order reference on the Memberspot access. If the buyer later changes their email address in Memberspot, removal and restoring still work.

What the integration does not do

It does not replace a shop connection. Access is only unlocked for purchases in the Rechnungskit checkout and for Rechnungskit subscriptions, not for orders in Shopify or WooCommerce. It also does not create courses: content, lessons and offers stay in Memberspot.
